Currently reading: Paper Towns by John Green And how is it? I really wanted to like it, but I’ve got to say, I’m not impressed so far. I heard that this book critiques the manic pixie dream girl trope, and we’ll see how that plays out, but I don’t think it can make up for the casual sexism (and cissexism) of the rest of the book. Also a white girl paints her face black. Also there’s a gay slur used repeatedly. Yes, by a “bad guy” and yes it’s criticized later, but it just seems so unnecessary and jarring.
